Nothing comes close to touching upon the interaction with a Polaroid instant photograph; the aesthetic can be faked perhaps, but the totality of the process, watching the image emerge, holding it and sharing it, these are things unique in flavour to this sub-medium. This is me, and this photo is stored safely with many others to give to her when she has grown up. I hope to have a great many more again to give to her come the time, but that looks less likely as Polaroid withdraws from the film market.

All I do know is that I have some magical images that I would just not have got, not in anything like the same way, without this idiosyncratic and really quite potent technology.
